Houston, we have a problem. We have lost the moon! Is it the Daleks? Have the Chinese landed there already and repositioned it?

“Don’t be ridiculous” you may say, but it is a serious question. As it is so dark near us, we can usually see every object in the sky. But recently the moon has not been one of them. Yes, we have checked for clouds, but there have been none. And we have looked at different times of the night, all to no avail.

Is there an astronomer out there who might be able to help? I know it must still be out there somewhere as the earth still has its tides and it hasn’t dropped out of the sky due to the lack of gravitational balance. So where the heck is it?
